Altinkum: Altinkum is a fun-loving beach resort on Turkey’s southwest coast. It has grown quickly over the past few years and has merged with its neighbor, Didim – a town with thousands of years of history. The name “Altinkum” means “golden sands,” and it’s for the three impressive beaches that so many visitors head to its shores.

Beaches:
-
Main Beach: An 800-meter stretch of sand in the middle of town, perfect for sunbathing. It’s backed by a restaurant-packed promenade. At the end of Main Beach is a harbor where banana boats, doughnuts, and glass-bottomed boats come and go all day long.
-
Second Beach: A smaller beach just five minutes’ walk away.
-
Third Beach: A favorite with families due to its shallow waters, accessible by a five-minute dolmus minibus ride.
-
Nightlife and Bazaar: Packed along the promenade and in Dolphin Square behind it are dozens of local restaurants, bars, nightclubs, and a bazaar. In the evenings, crowds stream through the streets, where the smell of shish kebabs wafts from the restaurants, bars play Turkish music, shops thrive, and locals perform traditional dances in the street.
-
Didim: Connected to Altinkum via Ataturk Boulevard, Didim is a modern town with a large shopping center, a Sunday market, and the impressive Temple of Apollo. Although only two of its 122 columns still stand, the temple remains an impressive sight.
-
Weather: Altinkum enjoys a typical Mediterranean climate, with long dry summers, mild springs and autumns, and warm winters. Between June and September, bring lots of high-factor sun cream as daytime temperatures regularly top 30°C and can hit 34°C and higher in July and August.
